Dickinson; double-mounted in acid-free mount with strong card backing, measures 44.4 x 56 cms (plate itself 29.2 x 40.5 cms) Published in 1845 on the centenary of the Jacobite Rising, The Clans of the Scottish Highlands includes text by James Logan, completed posthumously. Its striking images of Highland clansmen fuelled the romantic revival of interest in Gaeldom which was championed by Queen Victoria, to whom the book was dedicated.
