Fourth edition, 8vo., pp.190, cloth-backed pictorial boards blocked in green and yellow, pictorial spine, colour frontispiece and eight further brightly coloured plates by Mabel Dearmer; toning to free endpapers, foxing to prelims, neat repair to one plate and to spine, ownership blindstamp to rear blank, ink-stain to upper margin of rear board, light wear to extremities, overall a very good copy. Evelyn Sharp was a vocal pacifist and leading suffragist, belonging firstly to the Women’s Social and Political Union, and later a founding member of the United Suffragists. Noted also for her writing, most especially her books for children, she was a sometime contributor to The Yellow Book. Dearmer also had designs featured in the Yellow Book, and designed the cover art for issue Nine. Notable works include illustrations to All the Way to Fairyland by Evelyn Sharp, and The Story of Seven Young Goslings by Laurence Housman, amongst numerous other titles including publications of her own. Like Sharp, she was a committed pacifist, who volunteered as a nurse in Serbia prior to her death in 1915.
