Complete in sixteen volumes, follows the edition of the Nonesuch Dickens, bound in publisher’s half leather, title inlay to spine, and printed on St. Edmundsbury wove paper, t.e.g., ribbon bookmarks; Bleak House crease to headband, Barnaby Rudge minor crease to tailband, Dombey and Son minor creases to fore-edge of prelims, Great Expectations minor crease to tailband, David Copperfield very light barely visible surface mark to front board, Oliver Twist small spot of very light rubbing to headband, Little Dorrit minor scratch to front board, few very light surface marks to rear board, barely visible light surface scratch to title inlay. Else a fresh and near-fine set, in very good+ slipcases. ’The text and illustrations follow those of the Nonesuch Dickens, published in 1937 under the editorial direction of Arthur Waugh, Hugh Walpole, Walter Dexter and Thomas Hatton, with minor emendations. The Nonesuch Press took their text from the Charles Dickens Edition, which Dickens corrected for the Press - its 21 volumes published by Chapman and Hall between 1867 and 1875 - and their illustrations from the original edition.’
