Signed limited edition, no. 12 of only 30 copies, 8vo., pp.xiv,185, black paper-covered boards backed in red morocco, gilt, t.e.g., b/w frontispiece portrait, autographed and numbered beneath; slight bowing to upper corner of front board, light sunning to upper margin of rear board, a very good copy indeed. Joseph Chiari was born in Corsica, and wrote primarily in French, his second language. These later poems, composed in English, were the fruit of his time studying in Scotland, where he befriended the poet Hugh MacDiarmid, and, as he remarks in his prolegomenon to the present volume, also illumined by a lifelong affinity he felt the English language, which.
